Thank you to all the volunteers who braved the rainy weather Saturday morning to fill our 20 new gardening boxes with soil. For some of our young volunteers, it was their first time working in a garden. They did an amazing job filling wheelbarrows and spreading dirt. And they found new homes for many of the sidewalk worms in our garden plots.
Today's workday was also one of the first opportunities for many of our gardeners to meet each other. We have an incredibly talented group with diverse identities, skillsets, and interests, and it was wonderful to see the synergy of talents as we came together as a community to fill the garden boxes. We are looking forward to future community workdays with you all.
Boxes 31-50 will be ready for gardeners to plant as soon as we install soaker lines. That should happen sometime before May 9th, when we will turn on the water in the garden for the year. Don't forget to join us for our garden's opening celebration/workday on May 11th from 11am - 1pm. We will have some donated plant seeds and starts to share with you that day.
