Make it Your Resolution to Grow with Us in 2024!

While the garden sleeps under a blanket of white snow, let's take a minute to reflect on all the ways we grew in 2023, and look ahead to new opportunities for growth in 2024.

Thanks to Eagle Scout, Luke Latvakoski, we have a beautiful new sign for the garden to help the community know we are here! On the back of the sign (not visible in this photo), we installed a bulletin board where we will post garden announcements. Make sure you stop and check to see what is happening if you are on a walk in the neighborhood.

Thanks to Dave and Theresa Forrester, and other volunteers from Prince of Peace Lutheran church, we have two new beautifully-made picnic tables and four benches under our gazebo. These served as seating for our end-of-season potluck, and we are looking forward to using them to host community events in the garden during the coming year.

Our Porch Pantry was officially registered with Utah's Families Feeding Families! This old refrigerator in front of the church building enabled us to share non-perishables and extra garden produce, free of charge, with anyone in need. With rising food costs, more community members have come to us for support and we've tried to make sure the pantry is restocked weekly.

We built 30 raised gardening beds and were able to support around 25 gardeners and their families during our inaugural growing season. We also planted several beds for community members who couldn't find time to garden to pick their own vegetables.

While 2023 was a year filled with growth for Hope Community Garden, we are looking forward to a period of new growth in this new year. Much of our efforts last year were focused on building the physical garden. This year, our focus with be on cultivating community in our community garden. We are working to build more connections with other gardening programs in Cache Valley, as well as planning social and educational events for our gardeners. If you are also excited about cultivating community, please make it your resolution to join us as a gardener or garden supporter in 2024!
